Complete technical specification and implementation details from the patent document.
The present invention relates generally to painting implements, more specifically but not by way of limitation, a handheld paint brush that is configured to facilitate an ability to be suspendedly mounted within the interior volume of a conventional paint can or other container having paint disposed in the interior volume thereof.
Painting is well known in the art and is performed on millions of structures and objects every year. Depending upon the application, an individual engaged in painting can use a variety of different implements to apply a coat of paint to a desired object. By way of example but not limitation, if a large area needs to be painted, an individual may employ a paint roller to apply the coat of paint. One of the most common types of painting implements is the common hand paint brush. As is known in the art, the hand paint brush includes an elongated handle operably coupled to a bristle group that is typically held in place with a crimp member. These brushes come in various sizes and widths.
The conventional handheld paint brushes are often utilized in combination with one gallon paint cans and similar paint containers. These containers all have in common an opening at the top with an upper perimeter rim defining the size and shape of the opening of the paint container. During painting, a painter may need to set the brush aside to perform some other activity. Placing the paint brush into the container full of paint is undesirable as it will load the paint brush with too much paint and can cause various problems for the painter utilizing the paint brush. Placing a paint brush in use in other location often leads to paint spillage in areas where paint is not desired. Some paint brushes have employed magnets to provide a technique to hold the paint brush in a location but these do not work with most paint containers.
Accordingly, there is a need for a hand held paint brush that is configured to facilitate an ability to be suspendedly mounted within the interior volume of a paint container.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a hand held paint brush wherein the present invention includes a handle member operably coupled to a bristle portion.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a hand held paint brush that is configured to be suspendedly mounted within an interior volume of a paint container wherein the bristle portion is operably coupled with a crimp member.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a hand held paint brush wherein the present invention wherein the handle includes a second end distal to the crimp member wherein the distal end includes a pry member integrally formed in the second end of the handle.
Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide a hand held paint brush that is configured to be suspendedly mounted within an interior volume of a paint container wherein the second end of the handle further has formed therein an upper indentation.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a hand held paint brush wherein the present invention includes a lower indentation formed in the crimp member proximate a lateral edge of the crimp member.
An additional object of the present invention is to provide a hand held paint brush that is configured to be suspendedly mounted within an interior volume of a paint container wherein the lower indentation includes a void and an opening providing access thereto.
Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide a hand held paint brush wherein the void of the lower indentation is angular in orientation and further has a lip member formed at the upper end thereof.
To the accomplishment of the above and related objects the present invention may be embodied in the form illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Attention is called to the fact that the drawings are illustrative only. Variations are contemplated as being a part of the present invention, limited only by the scope of the claims.
Referring now to the drawings submitted herewith, wherein various elements depicted therein are not necessarily drawn to scale and wherein through the views and figures like elements are referenced with identical reference numerals, there is illustrated a paint brushconstructed according to the principles of the present invention.
An embodiment of the present invention is discussed herein with reference to the figures submitted herewith. Those skilled in the art will understand that the detailed description herein with respect to these figures is for explanatory purposes and that it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that alternative embodiments are plausible. By way of example but not by way of limitation, those having skill in the art in light of the present teachings of the present invention will recognize a plurality of alternate and suitable approaches dependent upon the needs of the particular application to implement the functionality of any given detail described herein, beyond that of the particular implementation choices in the embodiment described herein. Referring in particular to the Figures submitted herewith, the paint brushincludes a handle memberwherein the handle memberhas a first endand a second end. The handle memberis manufactured from a durable rigid material such as but not limited to wood. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the handle membercould be manufactured on various lengths and sizes. The handle memberhas a pry membercontiguously formed with the second endthereof. The pry memberis flat and planar in manner having a leading edgethat is configured to be utilized to open a conventional one gallon paint can. The pry memberin a preferred embodiment is manufactured from an alternate material such as but not limited to metal and could include a shank member (not particularly illustrated herein) penetrating down into the handle memberproviding structural support.
Proximate the pry memberis the upper indentation. Upper indentationis formed into the handle memberproximate the second end. The upper indentationincludes a voidwherein the voidhas an angular orientation thereto. An openingis formed in the lateral edgeof the handle memberproviding access to the void. The upper indentationfunctions to allow the paint brushto be suspendedly mounted on an object such as but not limited to a nail or peg. The angular orientation of the voidprovides stability ensuing engagement with the aforementioned nail or peg. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the paint brushcould be provided without the upper indentation. Furthermore, it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the upper indentationcould be manufactured in an alternate shape and/or size.
The first endof the handle memberhas a crimp memberoperably coupled thereto. Crimp memberis manufactured from metal in a preferred embodiment and functions to secure the bristle members. The bristle membersare conventional paint brush bristles manufactured from a suitable material such as but not limited to nylon. The crimp memberprovides the operable coupling of the bristle membersto the handle member.
Formed in the crimp memberis lower indentation. Lower indentationis formed in the crimp memberemploying suitable techniques. The lower indentationincludes a voidwherein access to the voidis provided by opening. Openingis formed in the lateral edgeof the crimp member. The voidis formed at an angular orientation wherein the direction of the voidis angled from proximate the bottom of the crimp memberextending thereinto towards a center thereof. The openingincludes a lip memberwherein lip memberforms a point in the lateral edgeproximate the upper end of the opening. The combination of the lip memberand angular orientation of the voidfacilitates an ability to suspendedly mount the paint brushonto the perimeter edgeof the openingof a conventional paint can, as is illustrated insubmitted as a part hereof. The lower indentationand the construction thereof enables a user to suspendedly mount the paint brushin the paint canplacing the paint brushis a substantially vertical position. The mounting position of the paint brushfacilitated by the lower indentationensures any paint egressing off of the bristle membersis deposited into the interior volume of the paint can.
In the preceding detailed description, reference has been made to the accompanying drawings that form a part hereof, and in which are shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. These embodiments, and certain variants thereof, have been described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention. It is to be understood that other suitable embodiments may be utilized and that logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. The description may omit certain information known to those skilled in the art. The preceding detailed description is, therefore, not intended to be limited to the specific forms set forth herein, but on the contrary, it is intended to cover such alternatives, modifications, and equivalents, as can be reasonably included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
