This application claims the benefit of an earlier filing date and right of priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/650,064, filed 21 May 2024, the contents of which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.
The present application relates to a wrist band, and more particularly to an electric charm in combination with a wrist band or watch band.
Across time and from almost every civilization people have adorned themselves in jewelry, charms, and trinkets of various types. Twenty years ago, men wore suits or sport coats and ties while women wore blouses, scarves and suits to work. There were plenty of places to put charms like lapel pins, tie tacks, cuff links, broaches, etc. Today, however, there are fewer and fewer options for people as a result of company policies, and suitable options choices.
There is a need for people today to personalize and customize themselves to help bring and show a particular identity. Some methods used by people include covers, stickers, fashion and so forth. Watches and wrist bands have gained popularity over recent time but have failed to provide functionality to allow one to express themselves or customize its appearance.
Typically, the watch band has been used as a simple necessity for carrying a watch around on a person's wrist since pocket watches fell out of favor. Combining or adorning the watchband with artistically created ornaments is an undiscovered market. A product is needed to specifically explore this market and present a creative new way to express individual identities and interests in sports, college, business, or just artistic expression.
It is an object of the present application to provide a wristband for the locating of one or more charms to be worn by a user. It is an object of the present application that the charm optionally includes electronics to allow it to make sounds, move in some way, or even produce a light. It is a further object of the present application that the charms are customizable and removable to allow a user to change its appearance and capability to reflect different occasions or mood.

The snap band charm assembly of the present application is configured to permit a user to customize and express oneself by incorporating one or more charms on a band, such as a watch or wrist band. The assembly is configured to operate with any wristband such as those associated with smartwatches or other types of watches.
Referring now toin the drawings, views of snap band charm assemblyare illustrated. In, assemblyincludes a charmand optional wristband. The term wristband is understood to include a wristband with or without a watch or smart watch. It may be considered a generalized term for a wrist worn band capable of interacting with optional electronic devices such as watches. As seen inof the drawings, wristbandis shown with the use of watchas wristbandwhileillustrates assemblywherein wristbandis shown without the use of watchas wristband. Wristbandsandare equally applicable and usable within assembly. It is understood that other designs and styles of wristbandmay be used within assemblythat are not herein depicted. The precise style, size, and material of wristbandmay be varied within assembly.
Wristbandis configured to include a plurality of apertureslocated along the length of wristband. Aperture isare configured to secure and locate charmsonto wristband. It is understood that charmsare configured to reside on an outer surface of wristband. The outer surfaceof wristbandbeing defined as the surface of wristbandopposite the surface in contact with the user. Aperture isare configured to pass wholly through wristband. It is desired that typically charmsmay be located so as to reside on the sides or top of a user's wrist when worn. In embodiments where wristbandincludes a buckle or connection, aperturesare ideally situated distally away from such connection.
In embodiments where wristbanddoes not include a watch, it is understood that wristbandmay serve merely as a charm bracelet such that charmsare selectively located thereon. Wristbandmay be available in various colors, such colors may coordinate with charms.
Referring now also toin the drawings, and enlarged side view of charmis illustrated. Charmsare configured to include a through the band pinwith a locking mechanismon the back side. Reference to the “back side” of wristbandwould include the internal or portion adjacent to the users skin when worn. Charmsideally include a plurality of pinsso as to prevent undesired rotation of the charm relative to wristband. Is understood that the spacing of pinsmay match that of the spacing scene in conventional wristbands for watches. This would allow charmsto be located at any location around wristband. Pinsinclude a tipthat has a larger radius then pin shaft. When pressed into aperture, tippasses through onto the internal surface of wristband. Apertureis sized to be of similar size to that of shaft. Charmsare configured to be pressed into aperturesuntil properly seated by pins.
It is possible that charmsmay take the form of various different designs including those such as sports logos, helmet profiles for specific teams, sports organizations, trademarks or logos of entities, schools, corporate and private organizations, or any other shape. It is also understood that pinsmay include a magnet to assist in securing charmto wristband.
Referring now toin the drawings, an exploded view of charmsis illustrated. In this illustrated example, charmstakes the shape of a helmet from a professional sports team. It is understood that this design is not limiting to charmsand merely serves as an example only. Charmsmay include technology to facilitate illumination, sounds, and even movement in some designs. As illustrated, charmincludes a cover, a diffuser, an electronics board, and a base. A batteryis seated within, and in communication with, board. One or more lightsare in communication with boardand are configured to illuminate through diffuseronto cover. Boardmay be programmed to regulate different operations, such as movement of an object, lighting, sounds, and utilize one or more sensors in such process. Baseis configured to nestle into and secure to a portion of cover. Charmmay also include a switch. Switchmay perform one or more functions such as turning charmon and off. It is understood that one or more switches may be incorporated into charm. Charmmay include some or all of these elements described above. Other elements such as microphones, speakers, sensors, and movable apparatuses may also be included as desired.
