. A desk, comprising:
Complete technical specification and implementation details from the patent document.
The invention relates to desks and more particularly to a desk including a height adjustable mechanism having improved characteristics.
Conventionally, tables or chairs have a fixed height. However, heights of individuals may vary greatly. Thus, one individual may deem the height of a desk to be too high and another individual may deem the height of the desk to be too low.
There are height adjustable desks commercially available. The height adjustable mechanism of the desk is mostly implemented as a pneumatic mechanism. However, its components are complicated and may malfunction after a short period of time of use.
In reading or working, it is uncomfortable for an individual to sit on a chair in the rear of a table when temperature is low.
Thus, the need for improvement still exists.
It is therefore one object of the invention to provide a desk comprising two hollow legs; two internally threaded members disposed in the hollow legs respectively; two slide members including an externally threaded member on an outer surface, the externally threaded member being threadedly secured to the internally threaded members and having a first bevel gear on a top; a work surface disposed on tops of the slide members; a heating member disposed on a bottom of the work surface; an interconnection interconnecting front portions of the hollow legs; a drive shaft disposed through the heating member and including two second bevel gears at first and second ends respectively, the second bevel gear being in gear engagement with the first bevel gear; and a hand crank disposed at a first side of the desk and attached to the first end of the draft shaft.
The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings
Referring to, a desk in accordance with the invention comprises two hollow legs; two basessecured to bottoms of the hollow legsrespectively; two internally threaded membersdisposed in the hollow legsrespectively; two slide membersincluding an externally threaded memberon an outer surface, the externally threaded memberbeing threadedly secured to the internally threaded membersand having a first bevel gearon a top; a work surfacedisposed on tops of the slide members; a heating memberdisposed on a bottom of the work surface; an interconnectioninterconnecting front portions of the hollow legs; a drive shaftdisposed through the heating memberand including two second bevel gearsat first and second ends respectively, the second bevel gearbeing in gear engagement with the first bevel gear; and a hand crankdisposed at a first side of the desk and attached to the first end of the draft shaft.
In use, an individual may use one hand to clockwise rotate the hand crankto drive the externally threaded membersinto the internally threaded membersor counterclockwise rotate the hand crankto drive the externally threaded membersaway from the internally threaded members, thereby adjusting height of the desk.
Alternatively, the externally threaded membersare provided in the hollow legsrespectively and the internally threaded membersare provided on the slide membersrespectively.
While the invention has been described in terms of embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention can be practiced with modifications within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
