Detailed Description

Complete technical specification and implementation details from the patent document.

The present disclosure is based on and claims priority to U.S. patent application Ser. No. 19/073,458 filed Mar. 7, 2025, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.

The present disclosure relates to game structures and specifically to game structure apparatuses that can include rotatable blocks, retention blocks, and/or support members used as puzzles.

Some conventional games are utilized as puzzles that are solved by moving game pieces.

This summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts further described below in the Detailed Description. This summary is not intended to identify key or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used to aid in limiting the scope of the claimed subject matter.

In certain examples, a game structure apparatus includes a plurality of blocks with each block having a plurality of block faces, a first set of block faces of the plurality of block faces collectively have an image thereon and the first set of block faces can be oriented relative to each other to thereby form the image, a plurality of support members, the plurality of support members support the plurality of blocks and permit the plurality of blocks to be moved along and rotated about the support members such that the first set of block faces form the image, and a frame coupled to the plurality of support members.

Optionally, the plurality of support members define an offset distance between each adjacent support member in the plurality of support members that is less than a face distance of one of the block faces. Optionally, rotation of one of the blocks in the plurality of blocks is permitted by moving one of the blocks along the corresponding support member. Optionally, a plurality of retention blocks coupled to one of the plurality of support members, and wherein the plurality of retention blocks are nonrotatable. Optionally, the frame comprises two or more frame sides. Optionally, each frame side comprises a plurality of support members and a plurality of blocks. Optionally, two frame sides are oriented in opposite directions. Optionally, the frame comprises six frame sides that form a cube. Optionally, a second set of block faces of the plurality of block faces collectively have a second image thereon and the second set of block faces can be oriented relative to each other to thereby form the second image. Optionally, the image can be overlaid with an alternative image. Optionally, a plurality of legs such that each leg connects to two support members of the plurality of support members, and the blocks can move along the leg between the two support members.

In certain examples, a method of operating a game structure apparatus includes moving a first block along a support member until the first block is sufficiently distant from a second block such that the first block can be rotated about the support member, rotating the first block about the support member until a desired block face of the first block is visible, and further moving the first block along the support member until the first block abuts a third block.

Optionally, the game structure apparatus includes a frame side including a plurality of rows of blocks with each row of blocks spaced apart from each other at an offset distance and the offset distance is less than a maximum radial diameter required for rotation of one of the blocks in each row of blocks. Optionally, the first block is rotated subsequent to movement of the first block along the support member. Optionally, moving a retention block along a second support member. Optionally, the retention block is nonrotatable. Optionally, preventing the first block from rotating. Optionally, the game structure apparatus includes two or more frame sides. Optionally, each frame side comprises a plurality of support members and a plurality of blocks. Optionally, two frame sides are oriented in opposite directions.

Various other features, objects, and advantages of the invention will be made apparent from the following description taken together with the drawings.

Through observation, the present inventor recognized that conventional games, such as puzzles, can be prone to the risk of losing at least one game piece and being unable to complete the puzzle. Depending on the size and complexity of the conventional puzzle, the number of puzzle pieces may vary from 50 to 1000, as exemplary numbers. In addition to ensuring the puzzle pieces remain with the conventional puzzle, progress on assembling a conventional puzzle is often restricted to a flat surface large enough for the entire assembled puzzle. This means that portability of a conventional puzzle after the assembly has begun, becomes nigh unto impossible. Sometimes these challenges are further complicated when, either due to the difficulty or the length of time required to finish a conventional puzzle, users seek a second or third conventional puzzle to attempt rather than finish assembling the image of the current conventional puzzle.

Accordingly, the inventor developed the example game structure apparatuses of the present disclosure that are improved games over conventional games and advantageously retain puzzle pieces. As will be described in greater detail herein below, some example game structure apparatuses of the present disclosure include puzzle pieces that are blocks connected to support members that are, in turn, attached to the frame of the game structure. Such a configuration prevents the loss of any puzzle pieces and allows for transportability. The blocks are positioned within the support structure at a distance that is close enough to make a unified, single image, despite the larger size of the blocks compared to some puzzle pieces. However, such proximity provides a second benefit, wherein the blocks cannot rotate when placed so closely together. This means that any progress on a puzzle can be saved without fear of unforeseen objects disrupting the progress of the puzzle during its assembly. In addition, some example game structure apparatuses of the present disclosure include one or more images on at least one of the block faces that match the other portions of the same image that are on the other blocks in the game structure apparatuses. When the portion of the image on each block in the game structure apparatus is displayed, the puzzle is complete and the full image is visible. Some game structure apparatuses have several different puzzles, with portions of different images on each side of each block within the game structure. The example game structure apparatuses of the present disclosure can include multiple puzzles or images that can be created by the user. In addition, the example game structure apparatuses of the present disclosure can have varying levels of difficulty based on the different sizes and shapes of components (e.g., size of the frame, the size of the blocks), image/pattern intricacies, and level of differentiation from each image. For instance, if each block face is a different color and the blocks are large, it would be much easier to distinguish the correct block face than if the blocks were smaller with similar colored images on each side that were more difficult to distinguish from one another. The example game structure apparatuses can help develop and maintain fine motor skills, color/image recognition, and problem-solving and further promote a sense of accomplishment, mental stimulation, and stress relief.

1 FIG. 1 FIG. 5 10 25 22 22 10 30 10 10 10 15 15 10 10 10 15 depicts an example game structure apparatuscomprising a plurality of blockswithin a frameof a support structure. The support structurecan include other components for supporting the blocksand support members(described further herein), some of which are described below. Note that the single lines between the blocksrepresent the edges of the blocks. Each blockhas a plurality of block faces, and in one example, each block has four block faces. Note that the size and the shape of the blockscan vary, and in the example depicted in, the blocksare cubes. In other examples, the blockscan be prisms (e.g., hexagonal prisms, pentagonal prisms, combination of different prisms to create a tessellation), cuboids, and/or the like with a plurality of block faces.

10 20 10 20 10 20 10 10 20 10 10 5 10 40 10 10 10 The size of the blockscan vary. For example, one rowof blockscould be 1.0″×1.0″×1.0″ cubes and another rowof blockscould be 2.0″×2.0″×2.0″ cubes. In certain examples, one or more of the rowscan include one or more blockswith different dimensions than surrounding adjacent blocks. For instance, one of the rowscould have one or more 2.0″×1.0″×1.0″ blockswhile the other adjacent blockshave different dimensions (e.g., blocks with 1.0″×1.0″×1.0″ cubes). An example game structure apparatuswith more than one size of blocks can increase the difficulty of correctly orienting the blocksto complete an image(noted below). Further note that the blockscan be formed of any suitable material such as wood, plastic, rubber, paper, metal, ceramic, textiles, glass, and/or the like. In certain examples, the blocksare formed with rigid material such that the blocksdo not elastically deform and/or are generally incompressible.

Each block facehas portions of an imagethereon, and a first set of block facesof the plurality of block facescollectively forming the imagewhen the block facesin the first set of block facesare oriented in an image direction(see arrowon) and in the same direction relative to each other so that the imageis faces to the user or an observer. In certain examples, a set of block facesincludes one of the block facesof each of the blocksin the game structure apparatus. The imagecan be indicia, a logo, a picture, a drawing, a painting, a photo, and/or the like. The imagecan be applied or coupled to the block facesin any suitable manner such as adhesive sticker-like units overlaid on the block faces, painting the imageon the block face, integrally forming the imagewith the blockswhen the blocksare formed, etching the imageinto the block faces, and/or the like. In one specific example, a complete imagewith adhesive backing is overlaid onto the plurality of blocks. The imageis then cut with a knife at all the seams between the individual blocksthereby separating the imageinto portions on the individual block faces. The blockscan then be moved independently of each other. Note that in some examples, the imagecan be removed from the blocksand replaced with a different image. In still other examples, a new alternative image (not depicted) can be overlaid to cover the original image. As such, the new alternative image can change and update the game structure apparatusas needed or desired by the user. Other images might include texturization such as outwardly extending ridges or recessed surfaces on the block facethat form a three-dimensional image, such as a contoured landscape or a texturized image. For example, depicts the first set of block faceswith a block faceof each blockcontaining a portion of an imageof a farm scene of a horse and a foal. When all the block facesof the first set of block facesare properly aligned relative to each other and toward the user of the game structure apparatus, the imageof the farm scene is visible. Each block facehas a face distancethat is equal to or greater than an offset distance(described below). In the example depicted in, the blocksalso include a second set of block faces (not depicted) that when the corresponding block facesare aligned toward the user of the game structure apparatusa second image is visible, a third set of block faces (not depicted) that when the corresponding block facesare aligned toward the user of the game structure apparatusa third image is visible, and a fourth set of block faces (not depicted) that when the corresponding block facesare aligned toward the user of the game structure apparatusa fourth image is visible.

15 10 10 15 15 40 10 10 18 15 15 5 1 FIG. Each block faceof each blockcan have a portion of a different image or depiction. For example, each blockdepicted inhas four block facesand each block facehas a portion from four different images, e.g., a farm scene of a horse and a foal, a winter scene with a snowman, a flower scene with a butterfly, and a forest scene with mushrooms. In this example, the blocksinclude a first set of block faces for collectively displaying a first image, a second set of block faces for collectively displaying a second image, a third set of block faces for collectively displaying a third image, and a fourth set of block faces for collectively displaying a fourth image. Each blockcan be rotated (described further herein) such that the different sets of block facesand the images are visible to the user. In other examples, one or more of the block facescan be devoid of the image (e.g., the block faceis blank). In these examples, the game structure apparatusmay be utilized as a simplified puzzle for young children where coordinating a single image may be a sufficient configuration.

1 2 FIGS.- 3 FIG. 1 2 FIGS.- 1 2 FIGS.- 1 FIG. 10 20 25 10 11 30 11 14 10 30 10 30 30 31 25 16 31 16 30 29 25 10 30 10 30 25 10 30 25 10 30 10 25 10 30 31 25 25 10 30 30 10 30 30 32 10 30 14 32 14 32 30 31 10 10 30 10 10 30 25 30 16 30 30 30 30 32 30 32 30 30 32 30 32 As depicted in, the blocksare arranged into columns or rowswithin the frame. Each blockhas a borethrough which a support memberextends. The boreextends along a bore axis. Each blockis coupled to one support membersuch that the blockcan be moved along and/or rotated relative to the support member. Each support memberhas a pair of opposing support member endswhich are each coupled to the frameand a member length() extending between the support member ends. The member lengthcorresponds to the portion of the support memberthat extends between opposing frame ends(described further therein). The frameacts as a ‘stop’ to retain the blockson the support membersand prevent the blocksfrom inadvertently decoupling from the support members. For example, the frameprevents the blocksfrom sliding off the support members. In certain examples, the frameprevents rotation of the blockabout the support memberwhen the blockis in contact with the frameand thus the blockdoes not rotate about the support member. The support member endsare coupled to the frame, and therefore, the frameprevents the blocksfrom decoupling from the support members. In the example depicted in, one of the support membershas seven blockscoupled thereto. The support memberscan be any shape and size, and in the example depicted in the, the support membersare straight rods that each extend along an axis. When the blockis coupled to the support member, the bore axisand the axisgenerally extend parallel to each other. In certain examples, the bore axisand the axisare aligned with each other. Each support memberdefines a path extending therealong between the support member endsalong which the blockscoupled thereto can be moved. Each blockcan also be rotated about the support memberunless the blockis prevented from rotating by an adjacent blockon an adjacent support memberor by a component of the frame. In the example depicted in, each support memberhas a uniform cross-sectional shape and area along its member length. In one example, the cross-sectional area of the support memberis in the shape of a circle. The support memberscan be formed of any suitable material such as wood, plastic, metal, and/or the like. The support membersare advantageously rigid such that the support membersdo not elastically deform and generally maintain their shape along the axis. In certain examples, the support membersdo not bend away from the axis. In other examples, the support membersare cables, dowels, rope, string, fishing line, pipe cleaner, pipes, and/or the like. The support membersand the axesextend parallel to each other. In certain examples, each support memberhas a straight linear shape and extends along the axis.

25 29 23 31 30 29 29 34 10 30 10 25 30 10 52 25 25 10 5 25 40 5 25 59 25 40 25 25 25 23 25 25 25 25 39 25 37 25 38 37 39 37 38 25 41 42 25 25 25 10 37 2 FIG. The frameincludes opposing frame endsat opposing structure ends, and each endof each support memberis coupled to one of the frame ends. Each frame endhas an inner surfacethat faces inwardly toward the blocks. In certain examples, the support membersprevent the blocksfrom being moved outside of the frame. For instance, the support membersprevent the blocksfrom being moved in the image directiontoward the outside of the frame. The depth of the framecan also be sized to prevent the blocksfrom contacting a supporting surface (e.g., table) when the game structure apparatusis placed flat on the supporting surface. In certain examples, the frameincludes identifying markings (not depicted; bar code, QR code) that allows the user to identify the imagesof the game structure apparatusvia scanning with a mobile phone to access an electronic database that contains electronic files of the images. In certain examples, the frameincludes a hangerthat permits the frameto be hung on a vertical surface so as to display the image. In certain examples, the frameis collapsible or expandable. For example, the framemay have a first position in which the length of the frame(e.g., the length extends in a direction that is parallel to one of the axes) is greater than a length of the framein a second position. In one instance, the length of the framein the first position is 16″ and the length of the framein the second position is 12″. In certain examples, the framecan include an adjustment device(e.g., a telescoping rod, tracks) that allows the portions of the frameto slide relative to each other. To illustrate this specific example, schematically depicts the upper railof the framewith a seambetween portions of the railand the adjustment device. The lower railcould have a similar seam, and the framecould be extended in a first directionand/or the second directionsuch that the width of the framecould increase or decrease. In certain instances, when the width of the frameis at a minimum width and the frameis collapsed, there can be no free space between the blocksand the rails.

10 30 20 30 25 30 25 1 2 FIGS.- The blocksare connected to the support membersto form one or more columns or rows, depending on the orientation of the game structure apparatus (e.g.,the support membershorizontally extend when the frameis on the bottom side or the back side; the support membersvertically extend when the frameis on the left or right sides).

30 10 10 30 35 30 10 16 30 10 10 10 30 16 30 10 10 32 30 15 10 11 10 30 10 10 30 30 11 1 FIG. The spacing of the support membersrelative to each other can be configured such that each blockcan abut adjacent blockson adjacent support members. The offset distancebetween the support membersillustrated inmay be far enough apart to allow for axial and translational movement of the blocksalong at least a portion of the member lengthof the support member, but the rotation of the blockwhen the blockis adjacent to blockson adjacent support members, without axial movement along the member lengthof the support member, is restricted. In one example, the blocksare 1.0 inch by 1.0 inch cubes and the distance is 1.0 inches. As the example blockis rotated about the axisof the support membersthe blockhas a rotational distance of 1.414 inches (e.g., the rotational distance is maximum radial diameter of the blockbetween two edges through the center bore and the rotational distance can be visualized by looking at the end view of the block such that a hypotenuse extends between two edges of the block), which is less than the allotted 2.0 inch cavity. In certain examples, the size of the boresin the blocksshould correspond or be similar to the diameter of the support memberto thereby prevent excessive radial movement of the blocksaway from the support members or ‘play’ between the blockand the support member. In another example, the supporting memberhas a diameter of ⅛ inch and the borehas a diameter of 5/32 inch.

5 20 12 30 12 12 25 12 25 12 25 In certain examples, the game structure apparatusincludes one or more retention columns or rowswith a plurality of retention blocks. In these examples, a support memberextends through the retention blocksand the retention blocksare positioned along the frame. Note that in other examples, the retention blocksare coupled to the framevia a tongue and groove connection and/or other methods for coupling the retention blocksare coupled to the frame(e.g., screws, adhesives).

12 10 12 40 15 10 12 40 12 12 In certain examples, the retention blocksare located above and below the blockswith the indicia thereon. The retention blocksdo not have indicia thereon and do not contribute to completing the imagedisplayed on the block facesof the other blocks. Note that in other examples, the retention blockshave portions of the image thereon or other indicia not associated with the image. For example, the upper row of retention blockscould have images of blue clouds thereon and the lower row of retention blockscould have images of green grass thereon.

5 1 2 FIGS.- 3 5 FIGS.- An example operational sequence for engaging and playing with the game structure apparatusdepicted inis described in greater detail herein below with reference to.

3 FIG. 1 FIG. 3 FIG. 5 15 40 18 40 15 40 10 40 depicts the game structure apparatusin a jumbled configuration in which the images on the block facesare not aligned and thereby a complete image(e.g., the farm scene depicted on) is not visible to the user. A complete set of block facesis not oriented toward the user. Instead, depicts portions of several different imageson the block faces. To form a complete image, the user must rotate each blocksuch that a complete set of block faces (which collectively have the image) is oriented toward the user.

10 20 10 30 10 32 10 30 10 55 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 32 4 FIG. 3 FIG. The user uses their hand to engage one of the blocksin one the rowsand move (e.g., slide; see arrows on) the blockalong the support memberinto position which the blockcan be rotated about the axis. For example, the blockis moved onto a portion of the support memberto which it is coupled without adjacent blocks(see exemplary locationwhere the blockcan be rotated). Note that when the blocksare next to adjacent blocks, such as the original positions of the blocksdepicted in, the adjacent blocksprevent rotation of the blockssuch that the blockscannot be rotated above the axes.

4 FIG. 5 FIG. 1 FIG. 10 15 40 10 10 40 15 18 10 30 55 10 10 10 10 40 18 40 18 As depicted in, the user rotates the blockuntil the block facewith the portion of the desired imageis oriented toward the user and then moves the properly oriented blockadjacent to other properly oriented blocks. Accordingly, the desired imageon the block facesbegins to take form until a complete set of block facesis oriented toward the user. Note that as the properly oriented blocksare moved adjacent to one another, the location along the support members(see exemplary locationwherein the blockscan be rotated) changes. Further note that as the properly oriented blocksare moved adjacent to each other, the blocksprevent each other from inadvertently rotating. This process is repeated with each blockuntil a complete second imageis displayed (as depicted in). Note that in this example, a second set of block facescollectively displays the complete second image(e.g., forest scene with mushrooms) in a direction toward the user while the first set of block faces(e.g., see) have been rotated to face in a direction away from the user).

12 30 10 12 30 12 12 25 12 25 30 12 25 25 26 26 27 28 25 26 12 12 21 10 10 40 15 12 10 12 12 21 10 10 21 10 40 40 2 FIG. In certain examples, the retention blocksare moved along the corresponding support membersas the other blocksare rotated as noted above. The retention blocksare prevented from rotating about the support memberto which the retention blocksare coupled due to the close proximity and engagement of the retention blocksto the frame. That is, the retention blocksare along the top and bottom of the framemay be axially moved along the corresponding support members, but rotation of the retention blocksis restricted or prevented due to the engagement with the frame. The framecan include a surface(see example surfaceon) that extends in a direction between opposite frame sides,of the frame, and in certain examples, the surfaceprevent rotation of the retention blocksThe rotational restrictions of the retention blocksin the retention rowsmay ensure rotation of the remaining blocksby offsetting any proximity to the frame that might otherwise restrict the rotation of blocksthat have a portion of the imageon a block face. In one example, the retention blockshave a different size than the other blocks. In these examples, the retention blocksmay be of a different shape, and/or the size may include any combination of dimensions such as height, width, etc. Additionally, the proximity of the retention blocks(and the retention rowby extension) may prevent undesired rotation of the remaining blockswhen the blocksare stationary. For example, when in a configuration such as the one depicted, the retention rowsmay prevent the top and bottom rows of image-containing blocksfrom rotating and displaying a portion of an image(or no image portion at all) that is not part of the imagedepicted by the remaining blocks.

At, the user moves (e.g., slides) the blockalong the support memberuntil the blockis sufficiently distant from adjacent blockssuch that the user can rotate the blockabout the axis. The blockcan be moved in any direction along the support member(e.g., a horizontal direction, a vertical direction), depending on the orientation of the support members. At, the user rotates the blockabout the support memberuntil a desired block faceis visible and oriented in a desired orientation. The desired block faceis the block facethat has the portion of the imagethat matches the imageas displayed by the remaining blocks. The imageon the block facemay be two-dimensional or three-dimensional, wherein the portion of the imagemay contain ridges and/or recesses in the surface of the block face. At, the user moves the blockalong the support memberuntil the blockabuts other adjacent blockssuch that the blockcannot rotate. Optionally, the user slides the blockback into the original position it began from, except that the desired block faceis facing the orientation desired by the user. These steps may be repeated for each blockwithin the frame sideuntil the desired block facescollectively form the image. These steps may be repeated for one or more blocksin their entirety or in part. For example, to rotate a blockin the middle of a row, the two blocksto the right of the desired blockand the desired blockitself may be moved into the open portion of the support memberto allow the desired block to be rotated. When returning the blockto the remainder of the blocks, all three blocksmay slide along the length of the support memberto return them to the imagedisplayed on the block faces.

The blocking membercan be coupled to or integrally formed with the rails. In the example depicted in, a blocking memberis coupled to each rail(note that only two blocking membersare depicted). In certain examples, the blocking memberscan be selectively coupled to or decoupled from the rails. In certain examples, the blocking memberscan prevent rotation of one or more blockswhen the blockis adjacent to the blocking member. In certain examples, the blocking memberscan increase the rigidity and stiffness of the frameby reducing the bending of the railsrelative to each other. In certain examples, the framealso includes a stop memberthat is for preventing rotation of the blockwhen the stop memberis received into the block. The stop memberis coupled to and/or integrally formed with the rail, and axially extends toward the blocks. The type of stop membercan vary, such as a rod, pin, fin, hook, finger, and/or the like. In the example depicted in, the stop memberis a fin that axially extends toward the blocksfrom a portion of the railto which the support member endis connected. When one of the blocksis moved toward the railat the frame end, the stop memberis received into one or more cavitiesin the blocks. In certain examples, the size and/or shape of the stop membercorresponds to the size and/or shape of the blocksso that there is no rotation of the blockabout the support member. In other examples, the size and/or shape of the stop memberis dissimilar to the size and/or shape of the blocksso that the stop memberallows for some rotation of the blocks(e.g., the blockcan be rotated 30 degrees when the stop memberis located in the cavity) while preventing full rotation (360 degrees) of the blocks.

107 10 10 107 97 10 107 10 In another example, the stop memberis a magnet that magnetically couples with a magnet (not depicted) on the blockthereby preventing rotation of the block. The stop memberis fixed to the rail, and therefore, when the magnet on the blockmagnetically couples with the stop member, the blockdoes not easily rotate (unless the force is applied to the block to overcome the magnetic force between the magnets.

The lockcan engage with the support memberto prevent axial movement of the blockscoupled to the support memberto which the lockis coupled. In certain examples, the lockis axially slidable along the support member. In one example, once the imageis formed, the operator may move one or more locksengagement with the blocksto thereby prevent the blocksfrom axially moving and prevent the blocksin advertently moving and preventing the operators work from being shuffled and lost. The locksare advantageous when the operator wishes to move the apparatuswithout having the blocksmove out of the positions moved by the user. The locksmay also be advantageous to ‘lock in’ the imagewhen the operator completes the imageand wishes to hang or display the apparatus. The lockcould be any suitable device that prevents axial movement of the blockssuch as o-rings, clamps, brackets, set screw or pin, and/or the like.

In independent aspects, the game structure apparatus includes two or more frame sides. In independent aspects, each frame side comprises a plurality of support members and a plurality of blocks. In independent aspects, two frame sides are oriented in opposite directions.

In certain examples, a game structure apparatus includes a frame and a plurality of substantially rigid support members that each extend along an axis and are coupled to the frame. Each support member in the plurality of support members includes a pair of support member ends coupled to the frame and a length that extends between the support member ends. A plurality of blocks with each block in the plurality of blocks coupled to one of the plurality of support members and each block in the plurality of blocks including a plurality of block faces. A first set of block faces of the plurality of block faces of the plurality of blocks can be oriented in the same direction to form an image. Each block of the plurality of blocks is capable of moving along and freely rotating about the support member to which the block is coupled along the length of the support member until the block is adjacent to another block coupled to another support member or restricted by the frame or component of the frame.

In independent aspects, the plurality of support members define an offset distance between each adjacent support member in the plurality of support members that is less than a face distance of one of the block faces. In independent aspects, each block has a circular bore and each support member has a circular cross-section such that each block rotates about the support member to which the block is coupled when the block does not contact another block coupled to another support member. In independent aspects, a plurality of retention blocks coupled to one of the plurality of support members and the plurality of retention blocks are nonrotatable. In independent aspects, a second set of block faces of the plurality of block faces collectively have a second image thereon and the second set of block faces can be oriented relative to each other to thereby form the second image. In independent aspects, the image can be overlaid with an alternative image.

In certain examples, a method of operating a game structure apparatus includes moving a first block along a first support member until the first block is spaced apart from a second block that is coupled to a second support member adjacent to the first support member such that the first block is rotatable about the first support member. The method includes rotating the first block about the first support member until a desired block face of the first block is oriented in a desired direction. The method includes moving the first block along the first support member until the first block abuts a third block that is coupled to the second support member or a third support member, and the second support member and the third support member being adjacent to the first support member. The first block is capable of moving along and freely rotating about the first support member along the length of the first support member until the first block abuts the second block or the third block.

In independent aspects, the game structure apparatus includes a frame side including a plurality of rows of blocks with each row of blocks spaced apart from each other at an offset distance and the offset distance is less than a maximum radial diameter required for rotation of one of the blocks in each row of blocks. In independent aspects, the first block is rotated subsequent to movement of the first block along the support member. In independent aspects, the method includes moving a retention block along a second support member. In independent aspects, the retention block is nonrotatable. In independent aspects, the first block has a circular bore and the first support member has a circular cross-section such that the first block rotates about the first support member.
