Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A shutter control system for viewing one of a plurality of simultaneously displayed programs comprising: viewing glasses having left and right lenses that alternate between opaque and transmissive states during a given operating frame, each operating frame for viewing said plurality of programs including corresponding subframes each associated with one of said plurality of simultaneously displayed programs, said subframes sequentially occurring in a periodic manner; a selector operable with said glasses for selecting one of said programs; a receiver for receiving from an external source a shutter control command having embedded therein shutter control information defining operating parameters of said left and right lenses; and a control device responsive to said selector for varying said operating parameters of said left and right lenses in accordance with said received shutter control information corresponding to a selected program such that said left and right lenses in each operating frame permit viewing only said selected program.
2. The shutter control system of claim 1, wherein said receiver is operable to receive said shutter control information from a wireless data link, said wireless data link connected to a remote transmitter for transmitting to a plurality of said viewing glasses.
3. The shutter control system of claim 1, wherein said right and left lenses are controlled by said control device in an independent manner such that said operating parameters of said left lens can be varied independent of said operating parameters of said right lens.
4. The shutter control system of claim 1, wherein said operating parameters comprise the duty cycle of said right and left lenses during a given frame.
5. The shutter control system of claim 4, wherein said shutter control command comprises a sync pulse for defining the frame timing, said sync pulse having said shutter control information embedded therein and said receiver further comprising decode circuitry for decoding from said sync pulse said embedded shutter control information.
6. The shutter control system of claim 1, and further comprising an external input device for allowing the user to input shutter control command information to vary said operating parameters of said right and left lenses independent of said shutter control command information received by said receiver.
