A signal recording/reproducing method and apparatus signal record medium and signal transmission/reception method and apparatus, whereby a signal recorded on a signal record medium can be identified as being an original signal or a copied signal. A CPU 11 generates, at a pe-set time interval, an identification signal having a meaning at a pre-set time interval, and an identification signal addition circuit 3 adds the identification signal to the video signals and/or the audio signals. A sector forming circuit 5 and circuit components up to a recording/reproducing head 14 record the video signals and/or the audio signals and the ancillary identification signal on an optical disc 12.

1. A signal recording method comprising: detecting a high level portion of a video signal and/or audio signal in a predetermined time interval, modifying a least significant bit of a plurality of portions of said video signal and/or said audio signal data within said predetermined time interval to include an identification relevant to said video signal and/or said audio signal within a portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal including, or in the vicinity of said high level portion so as to reduce the effects of the inclusion of said identification on said video signal and/or said audio signal, and wherein said identification is detected only by sampling and detecting all of the least significant bits of all of the video signal and/or audio signal in said predetermined time interval and processing all of said detected least significant bits; and recording the video signal and/or the audio signal, which have been modified to include said identification, on a signal record medium.
2. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said video signal and/or said audio signal is modified to include said identification in a configuration so that said identification may be detected by statistic processing of said video signal and/or said audio signal.
3. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 1 wherein a least significant bit of a portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal is modified to include said identification.
4. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 3 wherein said identification is inserted into said video signal and/or said audio signal having a high signal energy.
5. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 2 wherein said identification is included in said video signal and/or said audio signal at a synchronous timing.
6. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 2 wherein said identification is included in said video signal and/or said audio signals at an asynchronous timing.
7. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 1 wherein a low order bit side of a pre-set sample of said video signal and/or said audio signal having a high signal energy is modified to include said identification.
8. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 7 wherein said identification is inserted into said video signal and/or said audio signal having a high signal energy.
9. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said audio signal and/or said video signal is modified to include said identification at a synchronous timing.
10. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said video signal and or said audio signal are compressed signals.
11. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said identification is arrayed at a higher coefficient position of the coefficients obtained on orthogonal transform of said video signal and/or said audio signal.
12. The signal recording method as claimed in claim 1 wherein, when a dither noise is added to the video signal and/or an acoustic noise, the dither noise is modulated in accordance with said identification.
13. A signal recording apparatus comprising: a detector for detecting a high level portion of a video signal and/or audio signal in a predetermined time interval; identification signal modification means for modifying a least significant bit of a plurality of portions of said video signal and/or said audio signal data within said predetermined time interval to include an identification relevant to said video signal and/or said audio signal within a portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal including, or in the vicinity of said high level portion so as to reduce the effects of the inclusion of said identification on said video signal and/or said audio signal, and wherein said identification is detected only by sampling and detecting all of the least significant bits of all of the video signal and/or audio signal in said predetermined time interval and processing all of said detected least significant bits; and recording means recording the video signal and/or the audio signal, which have been modified to include said identification, on a signal record medium.
14. The signal recording apparatus as claimed in claim 13 wherein said video signal and/or said audio signal is modified to include said identification in a configuration so that said identification may be detected by statistic processing of said video signal and/or said audio signal.
15. The signal recording apparatus as claimed in claim 14 wherein a low order bit of said video signal and/or said audio signal is modified to include said identification.
16. The signal recording apparatus as claimed in claim 15 wherein said identification is inserted into said video signal and/or said audio signal having a high signal energy.
17. The signal recording apparatus as claimed in claim 14 wherein said identification is included in said video signals and/or said audio signals at a synchronous timing.
18. The signal recording apparatus as claimed in claim 14 wherein said identification is inserted in said video signals and/or said audio signals at an asynchronous timing.
19. The signal recording apparatus as claimed in claim 13 wherein a least significant bit side of a pre-set sample of said video signal and/or said audio signal having a high signal energy is modified to include said identification.

A signal reproducing method comprising: reproducing a signal recorded on a record medium having included therein at least an identification relevant to a recorded video signal and/or a recorded audio signal, said video signal and/or said audio signal having been modified to include said identification within a portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal including, or in the vicinity of, a high level portion thereof within a predetermined time interval in a configuration so as to reduce the effects of the inclusion of said identification on said video signal and/or said audio signal; and detecting, from the signal reproduced from said signal record medium, the identification included as a portion of said modified video signal and/or said audio signal by sampling and detecting all of the least significant bits of all of the video signal and/or audio signal in said predetermined time interval, and processing said detected least significant bits.
26. The signal reproducing method as claimed in claim 25 wherein said video signal and/or said audio signal have been modified to include said identification in a configuration so that said identification may be detected by statistic processing of said video signal and/or said audio signal.
27. The signal reproducing method as claimed in claim 26 wherein a least significant bit of a portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal is modified to insert said identification.
28. The signal reproducing method as claimed in claim 27 wherein said identification is inserted into said video signal and/or said audio signal having a high signal energy.

A signal reproducing apparatus comprising: reproducing means for reproducing a signal recorded on a record medium having included therein at least an identification relevant to a recorded video signal and/or a recorded audio signal, said video signal and/or said audio signal having been modified to include said identification within a portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal including, or in the vicinity of, a high level portion thereof within a predetermined time interval in a configuration so as to reduce the effects of the inclusion of said identification on said video signal and/or said audio signal; and detection means for detecting, from the signal reproduced from said signal record medium, the identification included as a portion of said modified video signal and/or said audio signal by sampling and detecting all of the least significant bits of all of the video signal and/or audio signal in said predetermined time interval, and processing said detected least significant bits.
38. The signal reproducing apparatus as claimed in claim 37 wherein said video signal and/or said audio signal have been modified to include said identification in a configuration so that said identification may be detected by statistic processing of said video signal and/or said audio signal.
39. The signal reproducing apparatus as claimed in claim 38 wherein a least significant bit of a portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal is modified to insert said identification.
40. The signal reproducing apparatus as claimed in claim 39 wherein said identification is inserted into said video signal and/or said audio signal having a high signal energy.

The signal recording method of claim 1 , wherein said portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal including, or in the vicinity of, said high level portion are modified by increasing the values of said video signal and/or said audio signal, decreasing the values of said video signal and/or said audio signal, or keeping the values of said video signal and/or said audio signal without change.

The signal recording method of claim 1 , wherein said identification is inserted in a least significant bit of a plurality of portions of said video and/or audio signal, said identification defining, at predetermined portions of said video and/or audio signal, that said video and/or audio signal is original or copied, a maker identification, a formatter identification, or copying management information.

The signal recording apparatus of claim 13 , wherein said portion of said video signal and/or said audio signal including, or in the vicinity of, said high level portion are modified by increasing the values of said video signal and/or said audio signal, decreasing the values of said video signal and/or said audio signal, or keeping the values of said video signal and/or said audio signal without change.

The signal recording apparatus of claim 13 , wherein said identification is inserted in a least significant bit of a plurality of portions of said video and/or audio signal, said identification defining, at predetermined portions of said video and/or audio signal, that said video and/or audio signal is original or copied, a maker identification, a formatter identification, or copying management information.
