Information recording medium, method for recording information, and method for reproduction information

1. An information recording method for recording data on an information recording disc which includes a first area of a managing file in which management information is stored, and which includes a second area of an audio file or a video file in which video information is stored, the information recording method comprising the steps of: recording at least one object in the audio or video file on the information recording disc, wherein said object includes object units and said object units each include at least one of a video pack in which video data is recorded and an audio pack in which audio data is recorded; and recording management information in the managing file, wherein said management information includes a plurality of program chain information, cells, disc representative picture information for one disc representative picture, and a plurality of chapter representative picture information respectively prepared for said plurality of program chain information, said plurality of program chain information designate respective cell reproduction orders, said cells represent portions of the object; said disc representative picture information includes information regarding a program chain number, a cell number, and a picture point as a presentation time of a picture representing the recording contents of the disc in the object unit, and information regarding time when the disc representative picture was made, said disc representative picture is any picture included in the object, and said plurality of chapter representative picture information include respective picture points for representative frames.

An information reproducing method for reproducing representative picture recorded on an information recording disc, wherein the information recording disc included a first area of a managing file in which management information is stored and includes a second area of an audio file or a video file in which video information is stored, the information recording disc having at least one object recorded in the audio or video file and management information recorded in the managing file, said object includes object units, said object units each include at least one of a video pack in which video data is recorded and an audio pack in which audio data is recorded, and said management information include a plurality of program chain information, cells, disc representative picture information for one disc representative picture, and a plurality of chapter representative picture information respectively prepared for said plurality of program chain information, said plurality of program chain information designate respective cell reproduction orders, said cells represent portions of the object, said disc representative picture information include information regarding a program chain number, a cell number and a picture point as a presentation time of a picture representing the recording contents of the disc in the object unit, and information regarding time when the disc representative picture was made, said disc representative picture is any picture included in the object, and said plurality of chapter representative picture information include respective picture points for representative frames, the information reproducing method comprising: a first step of reading the management information, referring to the disc representative picture information, and determining a position of the disc representative picture in the audio file or video file; a second step of reading the disc representative picture based on the position determined by the first step; a third step of reading the management information, referring to the chapter representative picture information, and determining a position of the chapter representative picture in the audio file or video file; a fourth step of reading the chapter representative picture based on the position determined by the third step; and a fifth step of decoding the disc representative picture read by the second step and decoding the chapter representative picture read by the forth step.

An information recording apparatus for recording data on an information recording disc which includes a first area of a managing file in which management information is stored, and which includes a second area of an audio file or a video file in which video information is stored, the information recording apparatus comprising: means for recording at least one object in the audio or video file on the information recording disc, wherein said object includes object units and said object units each include at least one of a video pack in which video data is recorded and audio pack in which audio data is recorded; and means for recording management information in the managing file, wherein said management information includes a plurality of program chain information, cells, disc representative picture information for one disc representative picture, and a plurality of chapter representative picture information respectively prepared for said plurality of program chain information, said plurality of program chain information designate respective cell reproduction orders, said cells represent portions of the object, said disc representative picture information includes information regarding a program chain number, a cell number and a picture point as a presentation time of a picture representing the recording contents of the disc in the object unit, and information regarding time when the disc representative picture was made, said disc representative picture is any picture included in the object, and said plurality of chapter representative picture information include respective picture points for representative frames.

An information recording reproducing apparatus for reproducing representative picture recorded on an information recording disc, wherein the information recording disc includes a first area of a managing file in which management information is stored and includes a second area of an audio file or a video file in which video information is stored, the information recording disc having at least one object recorded in the audio or video file and management information recorded in the managing file, said object including object units, said object units each include at least one of a video pack in which video data is recorded and an audio pack in which audio data is recorded, and said management information includes a plurality of program chain information, cells, disc representative picture information for one disc representative picture, and a plurality of chapter representative picture information respectively prepared for said plurality of program chain information, said plurality of program chain information designate respective cell reproduction orders, said cells represent portions of the object, said disc representative picture information includes information regarding a program chain number, a cell number and a picture point as a presentation time of a picture representing the recording contents of the disc in the object unit, and information regarding time when the disc representative picture was made, said disc representative picture is any picture included in the object, and each of said plurality of chapter representative picture information include respective picture points for representative frames, reproducing apparatus comprising: first means for reading the management information, referring to the disc representative picture information, and determining a position of the disc representative picture in the audio file or video file, second means for reading the disc representative picture based on the position determined by the first means, third means for reading the management information, referring to the chapter representative picture information, and determining a position of the chapter representative picture in the audio file or video file, fourth means for reading the chapter representative picture based on the position determined by the third means, and fifth means for decoding the disc representative picture read by the second means and decoding the chapter representative picture read by the forth means.
