Information storage system capable of recording and playing back a plurality of still pictures

1. An information storage medium configured to have data recorded thereon and reproduced therefrom for use with at least one of a data recording device and a playback device, comprising: a first area configured to store a video object group including a plurality of video objects, each video object including a still picture; and a second area configured to store a still picture audio/video file information table including a still picture video object entry used to access one of the video objects to reproduce the one of the video objects with the playback device, the still picture audio/video file information table including still picture audio/video file information including, general information for management of the video object group including the video objects, a search pointer that describes a start address of video object group information, and the video object group information, which includes, still picture video object group general information which contains information indicating a time when a first video object in the video object group was recorded, information indicating a time when a last video object in the video object group was recorded, and information of a start address of the video object group, and the still picture video object entry, which contains information a size of the still picture.

A method for recording information on an information storage medium including, a first area configured to store a video object group including a plurality of video objects, each video object including a still picture, and a second area configured to store a still picture audio/video file information table including a still picture video object entry used to access one of the video objects to reproduce the one of the video objects with a playback device, the still picture audio/video file information table including still picture audio/video file information including, general information for management of the video object group including the video objects, a search pointer that describes a start address of video object group information, and the video object group information which includes, still picture video object group general information which contains information indicating a time when a first video object in the video object group was recorded, information indicating a time when a last video object in the video object group was recorded, and information of a start address of the video object group, and the still picture video object entry, which contains information of a size of the still picture, the method comprising: recording information on the medium including the still picture audio/video file information and the video object group.

A method for reproducing information from an information storage medium including, a first area storing a video object group including a plurality of video objects, each video object including a still picture, and a second area storing a still picture audio/video file information table including a still picture video object entry used to access one of the video objects to reproduce the one of the video objects with a playback device, the still picture audio/video file information table including still picture audio/video file information including, general information for management of the video object group including the video objects, a search pointer that describes a start address of video object group information, and the video object group information, which includes, still picture video object group general information which contains information indicating a time when a first video object in the video object group was recorded, information indicating a time when a last video object in the video object group was recorded, and information of a start address of the video object group, and the still picture video object entry which contains information a size of the still picture, the method comprising: reproducing information from the medium including the still picture audio/video file information and the video object group.

A reproducing apparatus for reproducing information from an information storage medium including, a first area storing a video object group including a plurality of video objects, each video object including a still picture, and a second area storing a still picture audio/video file information table including a still picture video object entry used to access one of the video objects to reproduce the one of the video objects with the reproducing apparatus, the still picture audio/video file information table including still picture audio/video file information including, general information for management of the video object group including the video objects, a search pointer that describes a start address of video object group information, and the video object group information, which includes, still picture video object group general information which contains information indicating a time when a first video object in the video object group was recorded, information indicating a time when a last video object in the video object group was recorded, and information of a start address of the video object group, and the still picture video object entry, which contains information of a size of the still picture, the reproducing apparatus comprising: means for reproducing at least one of the plurality of video objects from the medium; and means for decoding the at least one of the plurality of video objects reproduced from the medium.
