1

1. A finned heat sink comprising: a plurality of heat sink fins, wherein each of said plurality of heat sink fins includes a fin cover and a fin core, wherein said fin core is constructed of a conductive structural graphite material and wherein said fin cover is constructed of a foil material and is disposed relative to said fin core so as to envelope said fin core; and a heat sink base, wherein said heat sink base is disposed so as to be in thermal communication with said plurality of heat sink fins; wherein said heat sink base includes a plurality of fin spacers non-movably disposed so as to separate said plurality of heat sink fins, wherein each of said plurality of fin spacers includes a spacer core and a spacer cover non-movably associated with said spacer core so as to envelope said spacer core.

2

2. A finned heat sink according to claim 1 , wherein said fin core includes a core length and wherein said fin cover includes a cover length, wherein said cover length is larger than said core length.

3

3. A finned heat sink according to claim 1 , wherein said fin core includes a core top and wherein said fin cover includes a cover top, wherein said fin cover is disposed relative to said fin core such that said cover top extends beyond said core top.

4

4. A finned heat sink according to claim 3 , wherein said cover top is sealed so as to enclose said core top within said fin cover.

5

5. A finned heat sink according to claim 1 , wherein said foil material is non-movably associated with said fin care and wherein said foil material is constructed of a copper material.

6

6. A finned heat sink according to claim 1 , wherein said foil material is constructed of a copper material and includes a foil surface treated with copper-oxide, wherein said foil surface is non-movably associated with said fin core.

7

7. A finned heat sink according to claim 1 , wherein said foil material is constructed or a thermally conductive material and includes a foil surface treated with an adhesion promoting material, wherein said foil surface is non-movably associated with said fin core.

8

8. A finned heat sink according to claim 1 , wherein said spacer core includes a spacer core top and a spacer core length and wherein said spacer cover includes a spacer cover top and a spacer cover length, wherein said spacer cover length is larger than said spacer core length and wherein said spacer cover is disposed relative to said spacer core such that said spacer cover top extends beyond spacer core top.

9

9. A finned heat sink according to claim 8 , wherein said spacer cover top is sealed so as to enclose said spacer core top within said spacer cover.

10

10. A finned heat sink according to claim 1 , wherein said spacer core is constructed of a graphite material and wherein said spacer cover is constructed of a foil material.

11

11. A finned heat sink according to claim 1 wherein said graphite material is graphite-epoxy.

12

12. A finned heat sink comprising: a plurality of heat sink fins, wherein each of said plurality of heat sink fins includes a fin cover and a fin core, wherein said fin core is constructed of a conductive structural graphite material and wherein said fin cover is constructed of a foil material and is disposed relative to said fin core so as to envelope said fin core; and a heat sink base, wherein said heat sink base is disposed so as to be in thermal communication with said plurality of heat sink fins, wherein said heat sink base includes a base bottom having a bottom material layer constructed of a thermally conductive material.

13

13. A finned heat sink according to claim 12 wherein said graphite material is graphite-epoxy.

14

14. A finned heat sink comprising: plurality of heat sink fins, wherein each of said plurality of heat sink fins includes a fin cover and a fin core, wherein said fin core is constructed of a conductive structural graphite material and wherein said fin cover is constructed of a foil material and is disposed relative to said fin core so as to envelope said fin core; and a heat sink base, wherein said heat sink base is disposed so as to be in thermal communication with said plurality of heat sink fins, wherein said heat sink base includes a base bottom having a bottom material layer constructed of copper.

15

15. A finned heat sink according to claim 14 wherein said graphite material is graphite-epoxy.
