In a data recovery processing, the conventional overhead, primarily, latency due to a rotational recording media is removed. Secondary, in a signal processing or in a recording and reproducing apparatus, reliability of data reproduction is improved by repeatedly processing data. These processing are achieved that input signal, i.e., raw analog signal read from the recording media is digitized to be stored in a secondary storage such as a memory or a FIFO memory. The apparatus includes a signal processing circuit to repeatedly process the stored digital signal in the secondary storage. When detecting data, operation of the circuit is efficiently controlled by a change over detector parameters, in which characteristics for the detecting performance. Resultantly, data recovery processing speed is increased and reliability of data reproduced is improved.
Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A disk drive comprising: a disk for storing sector data; a head for reading the sector data from the disk; a first processing unit for processing the sector data read by the head from the disk and generating first output sector data; a memory circuit for receiving and storing the first output sector data and outputting second output sector data; and a second processing unit for receiving and processing the first output sector data and the second output sector data selectively, and generating reproducing sector data.
2. The disk drive according to claim 1 , further comprising: a controller for controlling the second processing unit to select the first output sector data or the second output sector data.
3. The disk drive according to claim 2 , wherein the controller changes a parameter of the second processing unit when the second processing unit receive and process the second output sector data.
4. A disk drive comprising: a disk for storing sector data; a head for reading the sector data from the disk; a memory for receiving and storing the sector data read by the head from the disk and generating retry sector data; a reproducing circuit for reproducing the sector data; and a controller for enabling the reproducing circuit to conduct reproducing of the sector data read by the head from the disk and reproducing retry sector data output from the memory, when a required retry operation of the sector data to be reproduced related to the sector data within the reproducing circuit is performed.
5. The disk drive according to claim 4 , wherein the controller changes parameters of the reproducing circuit for conducting the required retry operation.
