Input signals of each frame are encoded by mapping the signals onto a coordinate system dictated by the symbols of the previous frame, and symbols from a constellation are selected based on the results of such mapping. Received signals are detected by preprocessing the signals detected at each antenna with signals detected by the antenna at the immediately previous frame, and then applied to a maximum likelihood detector circuit, followed by an inverse mapping circuit.
Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A method for developing signals in response to incoming signal stream comprising the steps of: receiving n-time slot signal frames, where each time slots consists of b bits mapping the nb bits of each frame q onto a coordinate system dictated by n output symbols developed for frame q−1, wherein n, b, and q are integers greater than 1; and computing n output symbols for frame q from a constellation of symbols, selected based on results of said mapping.
2. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of transmitting said n output signals developed for each frame.
