Technical Abstract

A compact authentication device that prevents user from feeling pressure and is strong against external light, when capturing an image of a finger blood vessel pattern with transmitted light. The device includes a guidance part for determining the finger position, a light source disposed on at least one side of the guidance part to emit light to be transmitted though the finger, an image capture part for capturing the transmitted light, a shading unit for limiting an irradiation region of the light, a finger thickness measuring unit, a unit for controlling a light amount of the light source based on a result of the measurement, a unit for recording registered image patterns of the finger, a unit for collating a captured image pattern from the image capture part with the registered patterns, and a unit for controlling different processing according to the collation result.

A cash machine comprising: an input unit receiving input from a user; an authentication device disposed side by side with the input unit; and a cash inlet/outlet; wherein the authentication device executes personal authentication using a feature of a vein pattern of an authentication part of a hand of a user set on the authentication device, receives the input using the other hand of a user in parallel with the personal authentication execution, and executes at least one of input/output of cash with the cash inlet/outlet when a user is authenticated; wherein the input unit is a touch panel which displays an instruction relating to the input; wherein said authentication device has a guide for positioning the hand of a user and said guide has a support body for contiguously holding at least two points on a part other than an image capture part of a hand of said user so that said image capture part extends between said at least two points and avoids contact with said authentication device; and wherein said cash machine is further provided with an operation panel in table orientation on which the authentication device and the input unit are disposed.

2. The cash machine according to claim 1 , further comprising means for urging re-input when the authentication fails.

4. The cash machine according to claim 1 , wherein the authentication device uses the vein pattern of a finger as the feature of a vein pattern of the authentication part of the hand of a user.

5. The cash machine according to claim 4 , wherein the authentication device has a groove to position the finger.

6. The cash machine according to claim 1 , wherein said authentication device is has an arched shape to enable positioning of the hand in a naturally bent position.

A cash machine comprising: an input unit receiving input from a user; an authentication device disposed side by side with the input unit; and a cash inlet/outlet; wherein the input unit receives the input using a hand of a user in a state that the other hand of a user is placed at the authentication device, and the receiving of the input and the execution of the authentication are in parallel, and enables at least one of input/output of cash via the cash inlet/outlet according to the input via the input unit when the user is authenticated: wherein the input unit is a touch panel which displays an instruction relating to the input; wherein said authentication device executes personal authentication using a feature of a vein pattern of an authentication part of the other hand of a user, and said authentication device has a guide for positioning the other hand of a user and said guide has a support body for contiguously holding at least two points on a part other than an image capture part of a hand of said user so that said image capture part extends between said at least two points and avoids contact with said authentication device; and wherein said cash machine is further provided with an operation panel in table orientation on which the authentication device and the input unit are disposed.

A method executed with a cash machine having an input unit receiving input from a user; an authentication device disposed side by side with the input unit; and a cash inlet/outlet; wherein said authentication device has a guide for positioning the hand of a user and said guide has a plurality of supports for positioning an authentication part of the hand, and said input unit is a display; wherein the method comprises: displaying an instruction relating to the input to receive the input on the display; authenticating a user using a feature of a vein pattern of the authentication part of a hand of a user positioned at the authentication device with part of an authentication part of the said guide has a support body for contiguously holding at least two points on a part other than an image capture part of a hand of said user so that said image capture part extends between said at least two points and avoids contact with said authentication device; receiving an input via the input unit using the other hand in a state that the hand is positioned in parallel with the authentication execution; executing at least one of input/output of cash via the cash inlet/outlet when the user is authenticated; and wherein said cash machine is further provided with an operation panel in table orientation on which the authentication device and the input unit are disposed.

14. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the authenticating step uses the vein pattern of a finger of the user as the feature of a vein pattern of the authentication part of the hand of a user.

A cash machine comprising: an input unit receiving input from a user; an authentication device using a feature of a finger of the user set on the authentication device; a cash inlet/outlet; wherein said authentication device comprises: two light sources to irradiate light to said finger from two sides of the finger single image capture unit to capture the light transmitted from the light sources transmitted through the finger; and a processing unit to cause the two light sources to irradiate the light alternately, and cause said single image capture unit to capture a plurality of images at a timing of the irradiation of the light sources; wherein the processing unit extracts a feature of a vein pattern of the finger from the plurality of images captured by said single image capture unit due to said light irradiated by said two light sources and executes personal identification using the extracted feature.

16. The cash machine according to claim 15 , wherein said input unit and authentication device are on the same plane.

17. The cash machine according to claim 15 , wherein said authentication device has a guide for a finger to be used for authentication.

A cash machine comprising: an input unit receiving input from a user; an authentication device using a feature of a finger of the user set on the authentication device; a cash inlet/output; wherein said authentication device comprises: a light source part to irradiate a finger with light from first and second sides of the finger; an image capture unit to capture images by the light transmitted through the finger; and a processing unit to cause the light to alternately irradiate the first side and the second side, and to cause the image capture unit to capture a plurality of images generated using the light from the light sources part that irradiates the first and second sides of the finger at a timing of the irradiation of the light source part, wherein the image capture unit and the light source part are not opposite each other in a coaxial form to the finger, and the processing unit extracts a feature of a vein pattern of the finger using the images captured due to the light irradiated from the first side and the second side or personal identification.

A method executed with a cash machine having an input unit receiving input from a user; an authentication device; and a cash inlet/output; wherein the method comprising: receiving an input via the input unit; irradiating light to a finger from two light sources disposed on two sides of the finger alternately; capturing a plurality of images by the light from the light sources transmitted through the finger at a timing of the irradiation with an image capture unit; extracting a feature of a vein pattern of the finger from the plurality of captured images generated using said light irradiated by said two light sources; executing personal identification using the feature of the vein pattern extracted from the plurality of images, wherein each of the two light sources and the image capture unit are not opposite each other in a coaxial form to the finger; and executing at least one of input/output of cash via the cash inlet/outlet when the user is authenticated.

A method executed with a cash machine having an input unit receiving input from a user; an authentication device; and a cash inlet/outlet; wherein the method comprises: receiving an input via the input unit; irradiating a finger alternately from first and second sides of the finger with light; capturing images by the light transmitted through the finger a plurality of times at a timing of the irradiation by a single image capture unit; extracting a feature of a vein pattern of the finger using the images captured by said single image capture unit due to the light irradiated from the first side and the second side; and executing at least one of input/output of cash via the cash inlet/outlet when the user is authenticated.

A cash machine having a table-like operation panel, comprising: an input unit receiving an instruction input from a user; a biometrics authentication device having a guide on which a hand of said user is placed, a light source which can irradiate light on an image capture part of the hand of said user, and an image capture unit which captures light transmitted through said image capture part, said biometrics authentication device extracting a vein pattern of the hand of said user from a captured image to enable personal authentication by using the vein pattern thus extracted; and a cash inlet/outlet, wherein input/output processing of cash is executed through said cash inlet/outlet according to user's instruction via said input unit when personal authentication of said user is performed, said biometrics authentication device and said input unit are juxtaposed on said operation panel, and said guide has a support body for contiguously holding at least two points on a part other than said image capture part of the hand of said user so that said image capture part extends between said at least two points and avoids contact with said authentication device.

22. The cash machine according to claim 21 , wherein said input unit is a touch-panel display displaying an instruction related to said input.
