Original Legal Text

1. A method of transferring information using a network, the method comprising: coupling, using a processing device, a destination device operatively to a storage device using the network, the storage device storing information to be transmitted to the destination device, the network providing a point-to-multipoint connection between an origin device and a plurality of destination devices, the plurality of destination devices including the destination device; receiving, using the processing device, the information stored in the storage device by the destination device in response to the destination device being operatively coupled to the storage device using the network, the information received by the destination device having been transmitted from the origin device to the network prior to the destination device being operatively coupled to the storage device, and receiving, using the processing device, additional information by the destination device in response to the destination device being operatively coupled to the storage device, the additional information received by the destination device having been transmitted from the origin device to the network after the destination device is operatively coupled to the storage device.

Plain English Translation

A method of transferring information using a network involves connecting a destination device to a storage device through the network. The network uses a point-to-multipoint connection between an origin device and multiple destination devices, including the connected destination device. The destination device then receives information stored on the storage device. This information was sent from the origin device to the network before the destination device connected to the storage device. The destination device also receives additional information that was sent from the origin device to the network *after* the destination device connected to the storage device. A processing device is used to handle the connections and information receiving.

Claim 2

Original Legal Text

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising coupling the destination device operatively to the storage device using one of a plurality of connections associated with the storage device, the plurality of connections associated with the storage device operatively coupling the plurality of destination devices to the storage device.

Plain English Translation

The method of transferring information described above also includes connecting the destination device to the storage device using one of several available connections associated with that storage device. These connections allow multiple destination devices to connect to the storage device simultaneously.

Claim 3

Original Legal Text

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving the information stored in the storage device by the destination device at a first rate, the information stored in the storage device being transmitted from the origin device to the storage device at a second rate, the first rate being slower than the second rate.

Plain English Translation

The method of transferring information described above also involves the destination device receiving information from the storage device at a slower rate (first rate) than the rate at which the origin device transmitted the information to the storage device (second rate). The data transfer speed from origin to storage is faster than from storage to the destination device.

Claim 4

Original Legal Text

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising coupling the destination device operatively to an existing point-to-multipoint connection operatively coupling the origin device and the storage device.

Plain English Translation

The method of transferring information described above also includes the destination device connecting to an existing point-to-multipoint connection already established between the origin device and the storage device. Instead of a new connection, the destination device joins an existing connection path.

Claim 5

Original Legal Text

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving the information stored in the storage device by the destination device after the origin device is decoupled from the network.

Plain English Translation

The method of transferring information described above also includes the destination device receiving the information stored on the storage device *after* the origin device has disconnected from the network. The information transfer to the destination device happens even after the origin is offline.

Claim 6

Original Legal Text

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising: coupling the destination device operatively to an additional storage device using the network, the additional storage device storing additional information to be transmitted to the destination device; and receiving the additional information stored in the additional storage device by the destination device in response to the destination device being operatively coupled to the additional storage device.

Plain English Translation

The method of transferring information involves connecting a destination device to a storage device and, in addition, also connecting the destination device to another, additional storage device via the network. This additional storage device holds more information for the destination device. The destination device receives this additional information from the additional storage device after connecting to it.

Claim 7
