The present invention relates to method and apparatus of providing supplementary service information for A/V contents written in a recording medium. This method has a recording medium containing Presentation Language data, which have to be included like as in a digital television signal for supplementary service information in accordance with Advanced TV Enhancement Forum or Digital TV Application Software Environment standard, and reproduces, if a disk reproduction is requested, the Presentation Language data as well as requested A/V data and provides them for a connected external device such as a digital television. As a result, various video information and functions provided with Presentation Language data by a recording medium can be realized at a digital television set being able to accept Presentation Language data.
Legal claims defining the scope of protection. Each claim is shown in both the original legal language and a plain English translation.
1. A method for reproducing supplemental data with audio/video data, the method comprising: receiving a transport stream including an audio/video data stream; retrieving the audio/video data stream from the transport stream and a supplemental data stream associated with the audio/video data stream through a digital interface; obtaining audio/video data from the audio/video data stream and supplemental data from the supplemental data stream; wherein the supplemental data comprises segment units, wherein the supplemental data is obtained separately from the audio/video data by identification information, and wherein the supplemental data is linked to the audio/video data by linking information; reproducing the supplemental data synchronously with the audio/video data; and storing the reproduced audio/video data in a buffer memory.
A method for displaying synchronized audio/video and supplementary data involves receiving a transport stream containing audio/video data. The audio/video data stream and a separate supplementary data stream are extracted. The supplementary data contains segments and is identified and extracted using specific identification information. The supplementary data is then linked to the audio/video data using linking information. The method reproduces the supplementary data in sync with the audio/video data. Finally, the reproduced audio/video data is stored in a buffer memory for later access or processing.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the supplemental data is obtained from an external device.
The method for displaying synchronized audio/video and supplementary data as described in Claim 1, where audio/video data and a separate supplementary data stream are extracted. The supplementary data contains segments and is identified and extracted using specific identification information. The supplementary data is then linked to the audio/video data using linking information, instead obtains the supplemental data from an external device (e.g., a network server, another connected media player, or a data feed). The method reproduces the supplementary data in sync with the audio/video data, and the reproduced audio/video data is stored in a buffer memory for later access or processing.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein a format of the supplemental data includes a HTML format.
The method for displaying synchronized audio/video and supplementary data as described in Claim 1, where audio/video data and a separate supplementary data stream are extracted. The supplementary data contains segments and is identified and extracted using specific identification information. The supplementary data is then linked to the audio/video data using linking information, defines the supplementary data format as HTML (HyperText Markup Language). The method reproduces the supplementary data in sync with the audio/video data, and the reproduced audio/video data is stored in a buffer memory for later access or processing. This enables displaying rich text, images, and interactive elements alongside the video content.
4. An apparatus for reproducing supplemental data with audio/video data, the apparatus comprising: a receiving unit configured to receive a transport stream including an audio/video data stream; a controller configured to: retrieve the audio/video data stream from the transport stream and a supplemental data stream associated with the audio/video data stream through a digital interface, obtain audio/video data from the audio/video data stream and supplemental data from the supplemental data stream; wherein the supplemental data comprises segment units, wherein the supplemental data is obtained separately from the audio/video data by identification information, and wherein the supplemental data is linked to the audio/video data by linking information, and reproduce the supplemental data synchronously with the audio/video data; and a storage device configured to store the reproduced audio/video data in a buffer memory.
An apparatus for displaying synchronized audio/video and supplementary data includes a receiving unit, a controller, and a storage device. The receiving unit receives a transport stream including audio/video data. The controller extracts the audio/video data stream and a separate supplementary data stream. The supplementary data contains segments and is identified and extracted using specific identification information. The supplementary data is then linked to the audio/video data using linking information. The controller reproduces the supplementary data in sync with the audio/video data. The storage device (buffer memory) stores the reproduced audio/video data.
5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the supplemental data is obtained from an external device.
The apparatus for displaying synchronized audio/video and supplementary data as described in Claim 4, including a receiving unit, a controller, and a storage device, instead obtains the supplemental data from an external device (e.g., a network server).
6. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein a format of the supplemental data includes a HTML format.
The apparatus for displaying synchronized audio/video and supplementary data as described in Claim 4, including a receiving unit, a controller, and a storage device, defines the supplementary data format as HTML (HyperText Markup Language). This enables displaying rich text, images, and interactive elements alongside the video content.
