Technical Abstract

A method and system for generating multiple buy/sell transactions during or prior to a completion of a buy/sell transaction of an item. The system comprises a server, a database and client devices. Each client device is associated with a unique user and connected to a communications network. The server connected to the communications network comprises a communications module and a transactions module. The communications module receives offers to buy the item from client devices associated with other purchasers before a first purchaser completes a buy/sell transaction of the item and receives an acceptance of one of the offers to buy from the first purchaser. The transaction module processes the offer accepted by the first purchaser during or prior to a completion of the buy/sell transaction of the item by the first purchaser, thereby facilitating multiple buy/sell transactions of the same item.

1. A computer implemented method for generating multiple buy/sell transactions during or prior to a completion of a buy/sell transaction of an item, comprising the steps of: receiving offers to buy the item from client devices associated with other purchasers before a first purchaser completes a buy/sell transaction of the item by a communications module of a server over the communications network; receiving an acceptance of one of the offers to buy from a client device associated with the first purchaser by the communications module of the server over the communications network; and processing the offer accepted by the first purchaser by a transaction module of the server during or prior to a completion of the buy/sell transaction of the item by the first purchaser, thereby facilitating multiple buy/sell transactions of the same item.

2

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of publishing a plurality of offers to buy the item from the other purchasers to the first purchaser by a listing module of the server during a checkout process to complete the buy/sell transaction by the first purchaser.

3

3. A system for generating multiple buy/sell transactions during or prior to the completion of a buy/sell transaction of an item, comprising: a plurality of client devices connected to a communications network, each client device associated with a unique user; a server connected to the communications network and comprising: a communications module for receiving offers to buy the item over the communications network from client devices associated with other purchasers before a first purchaser completes a buy/sell transaction of the item, and receiving an acceptance of one of the offers to buy from a client device associated with the first purchaser; a transaction module for processing the offer accepted by the first purchaser during or prior to a completion of the buy/sell transaction of the item by the first purchaser, thereby facilitating multiple buy/sell transactions of the same item; and a database for storing the offers to buy the item from other purchasers and the offer accepted by the first purchaser.

4

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the server further comprises a listing module for publishing a plurality of offers to buy the item from the other purchasers to the first purchaser during a checkout process to complete the buy/sell transaction by the first purchaser.

5

5. The system of claim 3 , wherein the client device is a personal computer, a personal digital assistant, a web-enabled handheld device, or a phone.

6

6. The system of claim 3 , wherein the communications network is Internet.

7

7. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising computer executable code configured to generate multiple buy/sell transactions during or prior to a completion of a buy/sell transaction of an item, the code comprising instructions configured for: receiving offers to buy the item from client devices associated with other purchasers before a first purchaser completes a buy/sell transaction of the item by a communications module of a server over the communications network; receiving an acceptance of one of the offers to buy from a client device associated with the first purchaser by the communications module of the server over the communications network; and processing the offer accepted by the first purchaser by a transaction module of the server during or prior to a completion of the buy/sell transaction of the item by the first purchaser, thereby facilitating multiple buy/sell transactions of the same item.

8

8. The computer readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the computer executable code further comprises instructions configured for publishing a plurality of offers to buy the item from the other purchasers to the first purchaser by a listing module of the server during a checkout process to complete the buy/sell transaction by the first purchaser.
