An object of the present invention is to simplify a calibration operation of a camera and to shorten a time necessary for calibration. A camera calibration device 10 is mounted on a predetermined position of a movable object 100 and includes a camera 11 configured to take an image including an index 41 provided outside the movable object 100, an image superimposing unit 122 configured to generate a superimposed image by superimposing a calibration object 42 having a position adjustment part and a rotation adjustment part on the image taken by the camera 11, and a calculation unit 124 configured to calculate, based on a position of the calibration object 42 after being shifted in the superimposed image such that an end or a center of the index 41 meets the position adjustment part and a part of the index other than the end or the center overlaps the rotation adjustment part, parameters relative to a pan angle, a tilt angle and a roll angle for calibration of the camera mounting position.
Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A calibration operation device for calibrating a mounting angle of a camera mounted on a vehicle, comprising a control unit configured to control for displaying an object having a first part and a second part, the object being superimposed on an image taken by the camera, wherein the control unit performs a shift process to shift at least a display position of the first part in horizontal and vertical directions on the image, a rotation process to rotate a display position of the second part around the first part on the image, and a calculation process to calculate a calibration parameters to calibrate a pan angle, a tilt angle and a roll angle of the mounting angle of the camera based on the position of the object after the shift process and the rotation process.
2. The calibration operation device according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit calculates the calibration parameters based on the position of the object after the first part is shifted to a position which overlaps a predetermined portion of an index in the image and the second part is rotated to a position which overlaps an other portion except the predetermined portion in the index.
3. The calibration operation device according to claim 2 , wherein the control unit, when an instruction to shift the object in horizontal, vertical and rotational directions is detected, shifts a display position of the object according to the instruction.
4. The calibration operation device according to claim 2 , wherein a marker is provided on the center of the index and the object is shifted such that the first part meets the marker.
5. The calibration operation device according to claim 1 , wherein the first part has a circular shape.
6. The calibration operation device according to claim 1 , wherein the second part includes a plurality of parallel lines.
7. The calibration operation device according to claim 6 , wherein the position which overlaps the other portion is a position in a state of sandwiching the other portion by the plurality of parallel lines.
8. The calibration operation device according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit controls to display the image at least when a parking mode is selected and when a camera calibration mode is selected.
9. The calibration operation device according to claim 8 , wherein the control unit, when the camera calibration mode is selected, superimposes the object on the image.
10. The calibration operation device according to claim 8 , wherein the control unit, when the parking mode is selected, superimposes a predicted track of the vehicle on the image.
11. A calibration operation method for calibrating a mounting angle of a camera mounted on a vehicle, comprising: a display step to display an object having a first part and a second part, the object being superimposed on an image taken by the camera; a shift step to shift at least a display position of the first part in horizontal and vertical directions on the image after the display step; a rotate step to rotate a display position of the second part around the first part determined by the shift step on the image; and a calculate step to calculate a calibration parameters to calibrate a pan angle, a tilt angle and a roll angle of the mounting angle of the camera based on the position of the object after the shift step and the rotate step.
12. The calibration operation method according to claim 11 , wherein the calculate step calculates the calibration parameters based on the position of the object after the first part is shifted to a position which overlaps a predetermined portion of an index in the image and the second part is rotated to a position which overlaps an other portion except the predetermined portion in the index.
13. A calibration operation method for calibrating a mounting angle of a camera mounted on a vehicle, comprising: a display step to display an object having a first part and a second part, the object being superimposed on an image taken by the camera; a shift step to shift at least a display position of the first part in horizontal and vertical directions on the image; a rotate step to rotate a display position of the second part around the first part on the image; and a calculate step to calculate a calibration parameters to calibrate a pan angle, a tilt angle and a roll angle of the mounting angle of the camera based on the position of the object after the shift step and the rotate step.
14. The calibration operation method according to claim 13 , wherein the calculate step calculates the calibration parameters based on the position of the object after the first part is shifted to a position which overlaps a predetermined portion of an index in the image and the second part is rotated to a position which overlaps an other portion except the predetermined portion in the index.
