Technical Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer program products use combinations of international mobile equipment identity (IMEI), international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI), and account information to determine if a customer is eligible for service credit in near real-time. The customer needs an active account prior to inserting a subscriber identity module (SIM) into a device and powering on the device for the system to determine credit eligibility. No further customer action is required. The credit application process determines credit eligibility based upon device credit eligibility, account tenure, and/or credit rules, and applies the credit to the customer's account. The customer may be proactively notified when the credit is applied. The credit and tenure rules may be changed as the industry and business needs change to remain competitive in the industry. The SIM used is configured with software to lock the SIM to the device upon first power-on.

1

1. A system, comprising: a processor; and a computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations for determining eligibility for an activation credit for a user account associated with a mobile communication device, the operations comprising obtaining a clean international mobile equipment identity list, receiving a trigger message initiated by a user mobile communication device in response to at least a subscriber identity module being inserted into the mobile communication device, wherein the trigger message includes an international mobile equipment identity of the mobile communication device, and determining whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit by comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment identity list, transmitting an account request to a second device, receiving, from the second device, an account response including an account type, and determining, based at least on results of comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment identity list and further based on the account type, whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit.

2

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit is further based on an eligibility of the user account under a tenure-based rule.

3

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein: the trigger message includes a mobile subscriber integrated services digital network number; and the operations further comprise generating, using the mobile subscriber integrated services digital network number, the account request.

4

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise generating, in response to identifying a match when comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment identity list, a credit request including the international mobile equipment identity.

5

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein obtaining the clean international mobile equipment identity list comprises receiving, from a third device, an eligible international mobile equipment identity list.

6

6. A computer-readable storage device comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations, for determining eligibility for an activation credit selectively to a user account associated with a mobile communication device, the operations comprising: obtaining a clean international mobile equipment identity list; receiving a trigger message initiated by a user mobile communication device in response to a subscriber identity module being inserted into the mobile communication device, wherein the trigger message includes an international mobile equipment identity of the mobile communication device; and determining whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit by comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment identity list, transmitting an account request to a third device, receiving, from the third device, an account response including an account type, and determining, based at least on results of comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment identity list and further based on the account type, whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit.

7

7. The computer-readable storage device of claim 6 , wherein determining whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit is further based on an eligibility of the user account under a tenure-based rule.

8

8. The computer-readable storage device of claim 6 , wherein: the trigger message includes a mobile subscriber integrated services digital network number; and the operations further comprise generating, using the mobile subscriber integrated services digital network number, the account request.

9

9. The computer-readable storage device of claim 6 , wherein the operations further comprise generating, in response to identifying a match when comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment identity list, a credit request including the international mobile equipment identity.

10

10. The computer-readable storage device of claim 6 , wherein obtaining the clean international mobile equipment identity list comprises receiving, from a fourth device, an eligible international mobile equipment identity list.

11

11. A method, for determining eligibility for an activation credit selectively to a user account associated with a mobile communication device, the method comprising: obtaining, by a system using a processor, a clean international mobile equipment list; receiving, by the system, a trigger message initiated by a user mobile communication device in response to a subscriber identity module being inserted into the mobile communication device, wherein the trigger message includes an international mobile equipment identity of the mobile communication device; and determining, by the system, whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit by comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment list; transmitting an account request to a second device; receiving, from the second device, an account response including an account type; and determining, based on at least results of comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment identity list and further based on the account type, whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit.

12

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein determining whether the user account is eligible for the activation credit is based also on an eligibility of the user account under a tenure-based rule.

13

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein: the trigger message includes a mobile subscriber integrated services digital network number; and the method further comprises generating, using the mobile subscriber integrated services digital network number, the account request.

14

14. The method of claim 11 , further comprising generating, in response to identifying a match when comparing the international mobile equipment identity to the clean international mobile equipment identity list, a credit request including the international mobile equipment identity.

15

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein obtaining the clean international mobile equipment list comprises receiving, from a third device, an eligible international mobile equipment list.

16

16. The method of claim 11 , wherein the trigger message is received from an international mobile equipment identity trigger device.

17

17. The system of claim 5 , wherein obtaining the clean international mobile equipment identity list further comprises determining which of a plurality of international mobile equipment identities in the eligible international mobile equipment identity list have received a credit; wherein the clean international mobile equipment identity list comprises at least a portion of the plurality of international mobile equipment identities; wherein the eligible international mobile equipment identity list is based upon a SKU list; wherein the SKU list comprises a plurality of pairs, each of which comprises one of a plurality of international mobile equipment identifiers paired with one of a plurality of integrated circuit card identifiers; and wherein a particular SKU in the SKU list uniquely identifies a particular pair of the plurality of pairs, the particular pair consisting of a particular integrated circuit card identifier that uniquely identifies the subscriber identity module and the international mobile equipment identity of the mobile communication device.

18

18. The computer-readable storage device of claim 10 , wherein obtaining the clean international mobile equipment identity list further comprises determining which of a plurality of international mobile equipment identities in the eligible international mobile equipment identity list have received a credit; wherein the clean international mobile equipment identity list comprises at least a portion of the plurality of international mobile equipment identities; wherein the eligible international mobile equipment identity list is based upon a SKU list; wherein the SKU list comprises a plurality of pairs, each of which comprises one of a plurality of international mobile equipment identifiers paired with one of a plurality of integrated circuit card identifiers; and wherein a particular SKU in the SKU list uniquely identifies a particular pair of the plurality of pairs, the particular pair consisting of a particular integrated circuit card identifier that uniquely identifies the subscriber identity module and the international mobile equipment identity of the mobile communication device.

19

19. The method of claim 15 , wherein obtaining the clean international mobile equipment identity list further comprises determining which of a plurality of international mobile equipment identities in the eligible international mobile equipment identity list have received a credit; wherein the clean international mobile equipment identity list comprises at least a portion of the plurality of international mobile equipment identities; wherein the eligible international mobile equipment identity list is based upon a SKU list; wherein the SKU list comprises a plurality of pairs, each of which comprises one of a plurality of international mobile equipment identifiers paired with one of a plurality of integrated circuit card identifiers; and wherein a particular SKU in the SKU list uniquely identifies a particular pair of the plurality of pairs, the particular pair consisting of a particular integrated circuit card identifier that uniquely identifies the subscriber identity module and the international mobile equipment identity of the mobile communication device.
