Claim 1: 1. A new and distinct cultivar ofplant named ‘FARROWICUPRT’ as herein illustrated and described.
Complete technical specification and implementation details from the patent document.
Latin name of the genus and species:
Cultivar denomination: ‘FARROWICUPRT’.
The new cultivar is a product of a planned breeding program by the inventor, to develop new and interestingvarieties. The open-pollination resulting in the new cultivar was made during the spring of 2014, at a nursery in Warwick, Maryland. The seed parent is the unpatented cultivar‘Sky Pencil’. The pollen parent is unidentified. The inventor discovered this new cultivar at the same nursery during the fall of 2014.
After identifying the new cultivar as a potentially interesting selection, the inventor first asexually propagated plants of ‘FARROWICUPRT’ by stem cuttings during the summer of 2016 at the same nursery in Warwick, Maryland. Multiple generations have been reproduced and have shown that the unique features of this cultivar are stable and reproduced true to type.
The cultivar ‘FARROWICUPRT’ has not been observed under all possible environmental conditions. The phenotype may vary somewhat with variations in environment such as temperature, day length, and light intensity, without, however, any variance in genotype. The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be the unique characteristics of ‘FARROWICUPRT’ These characteristics in combination distinguish ‘FARROWICUPRT’ as a new and distinctcultivar:
‘FARROWICUPRT’ is similar in most horticultural characteristics to the seed parent cultivar ‘Sky Pencil’. Plants of the new cultivar ‘FARROWICUPRT’ however, differ in the following:
‘FARROWICUPRT’ can be compared to the commercial cultivar‘Farrowone’, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 20,049. Plants of the new cultivar ‘FARROWICUPRT’ are similar to plants of ‘Farrowone’ in most horticultural characteristics, however, plants of the new cultivar ‘FARROWICUPRT’ differ in the following:
In the following description, color references are made to The Royal Horticultural Society Colour Chart 2015 except where general terms of ordinary dictionary significance are used. The following observations and measurements describe ‘FARROWICUPRT’ plants grown May through June of 2024 in a poly-greenhouse in Grand Haven, Michigan. Plants are approximately 3 years old, in 3-gallon containers.
The average day time temperature is 18-27° C., average night temperature is 5-10° C. Measurements and numerical values represent averages of typical plant types.
Plant Shape: Columnar/fastigiate.
Growth Habit: Upwards.
Height: 85 cm.
Plant Spread: 30 cm.
Growth Rate: Moderate.
Plant Vigor: Moderately vigorous.
