Detailed Description

Complete technical specification and implementation details from the patent document.

Botanical classification:hybrid.

Cultivar designation: ‘HEUSPI856’.

This application claims priority to European Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) Plant Breeder's Rights Application No. 2024/2149 filed on Oct. 8, 2024, under 35 U.S.C. 119(f), the entire contents of which is incorporated by reference herein. The information for the plant breeders' rights application was received directly from the Inventor.

The present invention relates to a new and distinct cultivar ofof hybrid origin, botanically known as‘HEUSPI856’ and is hereinafter referred to by its cultivar name ‘HEUSPI856’.

The new cultivar originated as a seedling that arose from seed planted from open pollination of an unnamed and unpatented plants offrom the Inventor's breeding program in Zuidwolde, Netherlands. The seeds were pooled from the crosses and therefore the parents of the new cultivar are unknown. ‘HEUSPI856’ was selected as a single unique plant in July of 2021 from the resulting seedlings.

Asexual propagation of the new cultivar was first accomplished under the direction of the Inventor by tissue culture initiated from meristem tissue in June of 2022 in Heerhugowaard, The Netherlands. Asexual propagation of the new cultivar by tissue culture has determined that the characteristics of the new cultivar are stable and are reproduced true to type in successive generations.

The following traits have been repeatedly observed and represent the characteristics of the new cultivar. These attributes in combination distinguish ‘HEUSPI856’ as a new and unique cultivar of

‘HEUSPI856’ can be most closely compared to thecultivars ‘Can Can’ (not patented) and ‘World Caffe Corretto’ (not patented). ‘Can Can’ is similar to ‘HEUSPI856’ in leaf coloration. ‘Can Can’ differs from ‘HEUSPI856’ in having leaves with deeper lobes and are more undulate and flowers that are lighter in color. ‘World Caffe Corretto’ differs from ‘HEUSPI856’ in having foliage that is slightly coarser in texture, slightly more undulate with deeper lobing, and light grey to gray-green in color, and flowers that are creamy white in color.

The colors in the photograph are as close as possible with the digital photography techniques available, the color values cited in the detailed botanical description accurately describe the colors of the new

The following is a detailed description of 8-month-old plants of ‘HEUSPI856’ as grown in 19-cm containers outdoors in Heerhugowaard, Netherlands. The phenotype of the new cultivar may vary with variations in environmental, climatic, and cultural conditions, as it has not been tested under all possible environmental conditions. The color determination is in accordance with The 2015 Colour Chart (2019 reprint) of The Royal Horticultural Society, London, England, except where general color terms of ordinary dictionary significance are used.
